Who can identify this Dutch 24-gun-ship of 1767?
Probably it is the Boreas, built at Amsterdam in 1767-68 as mentionned in an old catalogue from the Amsterdam museum. I learned that, looking at the style, the drawing is without any doubt made by Willem Lodewijk van Genth, one of the four apprentices of Thomas Davis.

Described as yacht or pleasure boat, length od deck 75ft, breadth from outside of plank at the broadest place 21ft, depth in hold 9,6ft, length of the keel for tonnage 62ft, number of tuns as custome 146 8/10 tons, on the right bottom is written "Sultan Nicho..."

The hull looks very much like the Tovarich ex Gorch Fock, but the sails are completely diffenerent. The Gorch Fock was a tall ship.
